Children's Rights

In Scots law, children's rights are primarily protected by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which has been incorporated into Scots law through the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024. This Act makes Scotland the first country in the UK to directly incorporate the UNCRC into domestic law. The UNCRC outlines a broad range of rights for children, including the right to be heard, the right to a name and nationality, and the right to an adequate standard of living.
